Thanks to Albany and Brian, all 5 students have come in for blog training. Everyone seems to be very excited and interested. The Typepad.com system continues to impress me with its ease of use and simplicity. The ability to adjust and check in on each account is impressive. Because Evan already posted his first blog entry, I was able to delete the 2 test blogs in his account very easily. Looks like the students are replying to the guest author invitation and getting familiar with the system. Looking forward to reading the blogs and helping things along.
Shared the blogging system with the UR team this morning with the macbook connected to the projector for wall viewing. Very exciting to have the big screen visuals for a meeting.

Typepad is very user friendly! Just set up multiple users with relative ease. 4 new blog accounts or users set up. Am trying Mozilla (Firefox) rather than Safari to see if there are things I can do differently. So far, I can 'see' more on the editing screen so I feel like Firefox will be the better choice. Let's add a photo and see how it looks.

Busy day today! Reviewed basic concepts with Brian and got his perspective on how the whole blogging concept will and can work. We'll go with either TypePad or squarespace. Both are excellent and because I've used TypePad a little longer, it will probably be our pick. Several to-dos and steps to accomplish before we launch. One is to create a custom header for each student to personalize their blog. This will be an element that few other student blogs will have. More later. CM

Just received this invitation to be a guest author. Fantastic. Let's see how it works. So many things to write about but not much time to do so. Will check back in very soon.

Today we gathered at Diana Fountain for a group action photo that included a variety of students. The photo was organized by University Relations and was to depict a typical day at the fountain and show students mingling, talking and enjoying campus life. The photo will be sent to an artist in Charleston who will paint the scene and give as a gift to the University for its Sesquicentennial celebration.
The light was a little too bright but we learned alot about how we want to set the shot up. We'll get the proofs back tomorrow and determine if another shoot is needed.
