If you have any ideas about what we can do for a "media" service learning project, post them here. As ideas are posted, come back and comment on them, refine them, indicate which ones you would work on, etc.
The one idea we have to date is that we find some way to communicate to the Queens community information about service opportunities in the Charlotte area, especially those that are not well known. Comment on this if you can think of ways we can do this (poster, e-mail, videos on the Trexler TVs, a web site, a wiki that lets students share information about service opportunities, etc.) If you know of service opportunities that should be included, list them here as well.
I've created a Wiki for our discussion of service projects. It will be easier than using this blog. Here is the URL: http://core122servicelearning.wikispaces.com/
I think we had a good discussion in class today that really got some ideas flowing. I like the idea of breaking off into groups and not just doing one topic. It's smart to cover different things because everyone's interests differ. This way we can hopefully reach out to more people and get more students involved, while also spreading the word about the organizations we are going to be helping.

I agree with Amanda that our ideas yesterday really helped get this project started. Once we are split into four groups based on our interests, each group should create a list of questions they would like to answer when conducting our research. Then, we should go to the yellow pages website dr.Goode referenced in class in order to get in touch with organizations in the Charlotte community. If they fit our topics and are willing to work with us, we should visit them and finally start to inform Queens on our findings.
